Abstract
⺠We examined the knowledge regarding vehicle impoundment and its self-reported effects. ⺠We examined accidents and violations rates one year following vehicle impoundment. ⺠Most impounded drivers were unaware of the violations to which impoundment applies. ⺠Accident rates following impoundment did not differ from other sanctions. ⺠Violations rates decreased following impoundment compared to other sanctions.
