Abstract
⺠A detailed study of the perceived safety of cyclists considering existing cyclists and road users of other transportation modes, facilities and network infrastructures applicable to cycling as well as to other modes. ⺠A questionnaire based survey of 1954 existing cyclists in Dublin is performed and Ordered Logistic Regression (OLR) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were used in the analysis of survey responses. ⺠Cycling is truly perceived as an unsafe mode of travel compared to driving even by the existing cyclists who consider themselves to be competent users of the mode and hence it is important to study the perceived safety of cyclists.
