Abstract
⺠An area-wide self explaining roads (SER) intervention was implemented. ⺠Following the intervention there were changes in local road user behaviour. ⺠On local roads a higher proportion of pedestrians were observed. ⺠Less constrained road user behaviour and less through traffic were also observed. ⺠Two functionally different road categories were created, supporting an SER road hierarchy.
