Abstract
► We conducted a systematic review and quality assessment of economic evaluation studies on injury prevention measures. ► Approaches to economic evaluation vary widely within this field and most studies do not fulfill methodological rigour. ► Improving the scope, quality and comparability of economic evaluations of injury prevention may largely expand their usefulness. ► Guidelines on economic evaluations of injury prevention interventions, based on established checklists, should be developed and used.
