Abstract
⺠Judgments of collision speed were underestimated which indicated that people generally believe that they can reduce speed faster than they actually can. ⺠The unrealistic belief of braking capacity was found regardless of self-reported familiarity with numbers and numerical skills. ⺠The results indicated some effect of affective context on braking speed judgments.
