Abstract
► We examine the relationship between emotional abilities and driver risk attitudes. ► Specific risk attitudes correlate negatively with different emotional abilities. ► Reality testing contributed the most to explain differences in women's risk factors. ► Among men, reality testing, social responsibility and self-regard contributed significantly. ► We conclude that emotional abilities are relevant to explain and predicting risk attitudes.
