Abstract
⺠Personal flotation device use varied widely between workers on different vessel types. ⺠The belief that PFDs interfered with work was associated with lower PFD use. ⺠The belief that PFDs created entanglement hazards was associated with lower PFD use. ⺠Interventions to increase PFD use should address the significant barriers to PFD use. ⺠PFD use may increase by familiarizing workers with newer, peer-evaluated PFDs.
