Abstract

- The solubility of bromocriptine mesylate was improved by self-microemulsion formulation.
- SME tablet with droplets size less than 100 nm could be prepared by adsorption of SME liquid to porous carriers prior to tableting
- The dissolution profiles of drug loaded SME tablet were similar to commercial tablet.
- Long chain triglyceride oil containing in SME could stimulate the lipoproteins synthesis and secretion in Caco-2 cells.
- Higher secreted lipoproteins of SME tablet than conventional tablet promoted higher brain cellular uptake.
