Abstract
- The low oral and topical toxicity of natamycin for mammalian cells was explained.
- We investigate the effect of natamycin on Langmuir monolayers (model membranes).
- The effects of natamycin depend on the cholesterol content in the monolayers.
- Significant effects are verified for 50Â mol% or higher cholesterol content.
- The effects are negligible for 25Â mol% cholesterol content (mammalian membranes).
