Abstract
- A novel ion pair lipid (IPL) is synthesized in order to reduce the surfactant inactivation, which is mainly caused by fibrinogen.
- IPL can mimic some selected properties of lung surfactant protein SP-B.
- IPL is able to adsorb to an interface covered with fibrinogen layer, whereas fibrinogen have not been able to penetrate IPL monolayer.
- Presence of IPL at the air/aqueous interface had decreased the lipid loss from the interface due to the fibrinogen adsorption.
