Abstract
- We investigate the cytotoxicity of core-shell MPS and colloidal silica particles.
- Core-shell MPS particles deliver less cytotoxicity than the nonporous counterparts.
- Core-shell MPS induce lower expression of the pro-inflammatory cytokines.
- Core-shell MPS show no effect on the activation of MAPKs, while colloidal ones do.
- The abundant proteins of the corona inhibit toxicity at the MPS-cellular interface.
