Abstract

- PM-IRRAS and ellipsometry were used to investigate BSA adsorption on a gold substrate.
- BSA adsorbs on gold spontaneously and rapidly.
- Two surface configurations of adsorbed BSA (co)exist.
- A two-step kinetic model describes the BSA adsorption mechanism.
- Results obtained by the two techniques agree very well.
