- PVA was crosslinked with mercaptosuccinic acid leading to PVA-SH films.
- The PVA-SH films are water insoluble and hydrophilic.
- The PVA-SH films were S-nitrosated yielding nitric oxide-releasing PVA-SNO films.
- Topical application of PVA-SNO films lead to local skin vasodilation.
- PVA-SNO films could be topically used for treating microvascular skin disorders.
