Abstract

- Hydroxyapatite nanorods were successfully fabricated with the assistance of pluronic surfactant.
- As-synthesized hydroxyapatite particles present regular-rod shape with a mean width of 28 nm and a mean length of 120 nm.
- As-synthesized hydroxyapatite nanorods exhibited an excellent apatite-forming ability.
- In vitro tests revealed a fast formation of bone-like apatite with a distinctive morphology, similar to flower like-apatite.
