Abstract
The uptake of chlorotrimethylsilane on a photosensitive glass is measured versus solution concentration in acetonitrile. Chemistry and structure are characterized with contact angle, atomic force microscopy, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Fractional coverage is obtained from contact angles using an equation for patchy layer coverage. The results are fit to a reaction model with a Freundlich equilibrium physisorption step followed by a rate-determining, first-order chemical reaction.147
