Abstract
The tribo-corrosion behaviors of a spinodally hardened Cu-9Â wt% Ni-6Â wt% Sn alloy against Si3N4 ball under dry-sliding, deionized water and 3.5Â wt% NaCl solution were investigated on a ball-on-disk tester. The friction coefficient was lowest in NaCl solution, and the highest under dry sliding. The amorphous phase was confirmed by the diffraction pattern of wear debris produced in NaCl solution. The compacted layer which composed of metal-oxides, hydroxides and amorphous phase, played an important role in keeping a low friction coefficient and wear rate in NaCl solution.
