Abstract
⺠In this study the tribology of cutting visco-elastic materials was investigated. ⺠Nature's principles of self-sharpening teeth and tough biomaterials are shown. ⺠We transformed these principles into industrial tool concepts. ⺠We have shown that wear of cutting tools in a certain and controlled manner leads to high efficient cutting processes.
