Abstract
⺠In orthopaedic tribology there is a trend towards more diverse wear test conditions. ⺠Pin-on-disc wear tests were done with conventional UHMWPE against polished CoCr. ⺠Biomechanically realistic random motion and load, and cyclic ones were implemented. ⺠The n value in the 2 different tests of 36 days duration was remarkably large, 16. ⺠Random conditions produced significantly higher wear compared with cyclic input.
