Abstract
⺠Experimental measurements are used in the tangential problem in the wheel-rail contact. ⺠A reduction of the initial slope together with a friction function must be considered. ⺠The coefficient of friction must be obtained as a result of operating conditions. ⺠To model wear, different wear and friction functions must be used for different surface conditions. ⺠The proposed model has an influence on the interaction force and especially on wear estimation.
