Abstract
⺠We have examined the wear properties of TiAlSiN coatings post-treated with C or C + N ion implantations. ⺠The coatings with implantation have an improvement in tribological performance in terms of friction coefficient and wear rate. ⺠The improvement of the coatings is more significant for the case of C + N implantations. ⺠In the extreme cases, the samples have 100-fold improvement of wear rate as compared to the untreated TiSiAlN coating.
