Abstract
▶ Sulphur binders change the stoichiometry of the perovskite structure, thus forming non-ionic conduction domains which constrain ionic diffusion. ▶ Enhanced oxygen flux of perovskite hollow fibres by replacing sulphur binders in the synthesis process with sulphur free binder. ▶ High performance perovskite hollow fibres, which aided by surface modification with Pd nano-catalysts, increased oxygen fluxes by a factor of 10 at temperatures below 700 °C. ▶ We show for the first time oxygen fluxes in excess of the coveted target of 10 ml min−1 cm−2 pursued by the research community in the last 10 years for operation under modest oxygen partial pressure gradient (<21 kPa) created by atmospheric air feed and sweep gas.
