Abstract
The Steinmetz circuit is constituted by single-phase loads, e.g. traction systems, delta-connected with reactances to load the network with balanced currents. A parallel resonance between the capacitive reactance of the Steinmetz circuit and the power system reactances can be produced, and therefore harmonic voltage distortion in the presence of non-linear loads increases. The paper studies this resonance analytically and presents an expression to locate it. Experimental measurements have also been made to validate the obtained analytical results.
