Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the combined heat and mass transfer in the evaporation of ethanol liquid film by mixed convection in a finite vertical channel. The liquid film falls along a left plate which is externally submitted to partially heat flux while the right plate is dry wall and is kept thermally insulated. The partially heated plate is divided into N equal regions which are alternately heated and insulated zones. Both liquid and gas stream are approached by two coupled laminar boundary layer. An implicit finite difference method is employed to solve the coupled governing equations for liquid film and gas flow together with the interfacial matching conditions. The effect of the number of heated zones and their positions on the flow and on the heat and mass transfer is analyzed.
