Abstract
⺠Alternative fluids replace boiling water in a gasifier radiant heat exchanger (RHX). ⺠Liquids such as lead, LBE and molten salt are used to absorb heat from syngas in RHX. ⺠Tensile hoop stress is reduced in heat exchanger to achieve high exit temperatures. ⺠Liquids heat steam at higher pressure and temperature than are currently achievable. ⺠IGCC plant efficiency increases with innovation and payback time is around one year.
