Abstract

Utilities across the country are beginning to deploy a variety of behavior-based energy efficiency programs in order to realize the significant utility, customer, and environmental benefits that these programs offer. Salt River Project, San Diego Gas & Electric, and Commonwealth Edison have adopted pioneering programs to incentivize customers to use less energy while better aligning their consumption patterns with the needs of the electric system and society at large. These utilities’ efforts provide important lessons regarding behavior-based energy efficiency program implementation.
