Abstract
▸ This work continues our studies on imidazole-substituted coordination compounds with transition metal ions. ▸ The manuscript reports the synthesis, the chemical characterization and the thermal analysis results for Co(II) and Ni(II)-complexes of bis(1-methylimidazol-2-yl)ketone: the thermoanalytical characterization suggests the decomposition stability scale and the decomposition mechanism of these coordination compounds. ▸ As suggested for other similar imidazole-substituted compounds, the decomposition steps confirm a common mechanism shown in our previous studies. ▸ In addition, Evolved Gas Analysis by either MS or FTIR proves to be a useful tool to prove the supposed mechanism.
