Abstract
⺠Purity and drying conditions are crucial for the thermal stability of bentonite. ⺠After purification, the thermal stability of bentonite increases significantly. ⺠Highly stable organoclays are produced from phosphonium or imidazolium surfactants. ⺠As the chain length of the surfactant increases, the thermal stability decreases.
