Abstract
America is very much a divided nation when it comes to politics. That polarization is reflected in the environmental and energy realities currently at play in many states, creating a remarkable divide between more conservative Red States and more liberal Blue States when it comes to the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere and the price of electricity. These differences pose an enormous obstacle in passing climate change legislation.
