Abstract
Several policies aimed at encouraging renewable energy generation to discourage carbon intensive energy production have been proposed and implemented by various jurisdictions around the world. An examination of the unintended impacts of simultaneously applying multiple policy instruments within a jurisdiction shows how well-intentioned policy goals can lead to ineffective outcomes and exacerbate market inefficiency.
