Abstract

A review of renewable energy development and policy in Illinois indicates that the state's renewable portfolio standard appears to have enabled significant job creation and economic development opportunities as well as environmental benefits. Hourly simulations for the year 2011 suggest that the integration of wind, measured by its impact on locational marginal prices, will play a dramatic role in reducing energy prices in Illinois.
