Abstract
Some risks are unavoidable. Rather than pretending to forecast the future, successful companies will need to learn from other cyclical, capital-intensive industries: investing wisely, learning to build asset portfolios consonant with their owners’ appetite for risk, and relentlessly seeking opportunities to improve efficiency.
