Production of xylitol and tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol from xylan in napier grass by a hydrothermal process with phosphorus oxoacids followed by aqueous phase hydrogenation

Effective production of xylitol and tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol (THFA) from napier grass was achieved by a simple two-step process; a hydrothermal reaction with phosphorus oxoacids followed by direct hydrogenation of the hydrolysate with Pd/C.
