Abstract
⺠Methane production was inhibited at high total solids contents (>30%). ⺠Enrichment in Clostridium sp. was associated to low methanogenic activity. ⺠High specificity of archaeal population structures to TS contents was observed. ⺠Several bacterial and archaeal indicators of inhibited methanogenesis were identified.
