Abstract
⺠Novel anaerobic digestion systems for the treatment of fatty waste are proposed. ⺠Substrate saponification and solids recirculation both benefits the process. ⺠Saponification enhances emulsification and bioavailability of fatty residues. ⺠Recirculation minimizes substrate/biomass wash-out and induces microbial adaptation.
