Abstract
⺠P-accumulating sludge can perform EBPR using glucose when it is not a dominant substrate. ⺠EBPR deterioration when glucose is the dominant substrate is due to intracellular acidification. ⺠Intra-cycle pH changes can be as a monitoring parameter to assess the physiological state of PAOs.
