Abstract
► Temperatures and microbiota were evaluated in 0.25 m and 0.50 m deep beddings. ► Inoculums of Bacillus sp. were added to the bedding. ► Thermophilic microbiota were more frequent in beddings with inoculums. ► Increased K content and reduced N content favored thermophilic bacteria. ► The 0.25 m deep bedding is recommended due to the reduced thermophilic microbiota.
