Abstract
► A new ethanol yield calculation method for SSF at high solids content was proposed. ► The liquid volume change was considered in practical ethanol yields calculation. ► The ethanol formation volume was five times greater than water used in hydrolysis. ► Practical ethanol yields were underestimated using the conventional method. ► The underestimated errors increased with the ethanol titer increasing.
