Abstract
⺠Electrochemically enhanced biological nitrogen removal from ammonium was achieved. ⺠Assisted by a low applied voltage, ammonium offered electron to the external circuit. ⺠The applied voltage was much less than the voltage required for water electrolysis. ⺠Nitrogen removal was free of organic carbon addition.
