Abstract
⺠Biomass saccharification yields were improved threefold by brown rot pretreatment. ⺠Hemicellulose removal and specific lignin modifications were predictive of yields. ⺠Dynamics in non-conifer substrates differed from spruce, lending mechanistic insight. ⺠Full sugars accounting demonstrated potential for mass balance and cost assessment.
