Abstract
⺠Bxl5 successfully cloned, purified and characterized. ⺠Bxl5 hydrolyzed wide range of substrates and exhibited high thermal stability. ⺠Bxl5 provided almost 100% conversion of laminarin and barley β-glucan into d-glucose. ⺠Bxl5 seems to be a very promising enzyme for bioconversion purposes.
