Abstract
► Combustion characteristics of corncob in three combustion modes are compared. ► We examine the mechanisms of formation and reduction of CO and NO in VFBC. ► Combustion fractions in the VFBC vary with different combustion modes. ► NO emission decreases by 30% and 15% in FGR and staged mode compared with direct mode.
