Abstract
► The yield of glucose in hydrolysis of microcrystalline cellulose is increased by introducing cyanuric chloride. ► Cyanuric chloride is introduced into cellulose by simple chemical reaction. ► The crystal structure of microcrystalline cellulose is demolished partially. ► The contents of crystal planes (11¯0) and (1 1 0) increase. ► These increases make the modified microcrystalline cellulose more accessible for hydrolysis.
