Abstract
► High synergy observed between a cellulase and a hemicellulase (xylanase) during enzymatic hydrolysis of sugar cane bagasse. ► The synergy was dependent on time of incubation and molar ratio of the two enzymes. ► It was shown that a non-catalytic carbohydrate-binding module plays an important role for the synergy.
