Abstract
The presented project concerns the development and studies of a digital synthesis system for spatial audio on a DSP platform. The concept of Head-Related Transfer Functions was adapted in order to produce the 3-D audio. The paper concentrates on the DSP implementation of HRTFs, especially specific optimizations that were introduced, that enabled real time sound processing despite the limited hardware resources. Experimental verification of the developed system was carried out. It was concluded that the HRTF-based spatial audio can be successfully synthesized in real time on embedded DSP devices.
