Abstract

Until recently, supply chain (SC) configuration has been carried out solely on the basis of financial criteria. Nonetheless, social and environmental criteria are increasingly seen as important. Such strong constraints are characteristic of pharmaceutical downstream logistics. In the first time we identify the most important criteria and how to measure their impact. Then, we study their effect on decision making (centralized or not) and physical structure (centralized or not). Our results show that the combination of centralized decision making with a decentralized structure leads to the best global performance.
