Abstract
This paper proposes a method to measure the effects of the driver's visual inattention. In addition, the driver's inattention is associated with a time delay, the same that is defined such that it produces a similar effect on the car motion. This interpretation will allow the use of classic tools present in the control theory for time delayed systems in the case of a driver, who is maneuvering a car to follow a path taking into account its possible inattention. Experimental results using a driving simulator are presented with the on-line measure of the inattention level.
