Abstract
In this paper, we consider an optimization problem of revolution control of the marine main engine. In order to apply the adaptive extremum control scheme proposed by Krstic’ et al. to marine engine, the basic algorithm is extended to avoid the instability caused by the time delay in measuring the output (cost function). The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is evaluated by both computer simulations and preliminary experiments for real main engine of the ship.
