Abstract

- A novel phosphorus-containing flame retardant PAPEG containing caged bicyclic phosphate and oligomer was synthesized.
- PAPEG was reactive water borne intumescent flame retardant.
- Higher charring efficiency of phosphorus in PAPEG because of graded decomposition of two different kinds of phosphates.
- Excellent fire protection in PAPEG/melamine formaldehyde resin system.
