Abstract

The control input-output contact system is a comprehensive representation of the irreversible Thermodynamic systems following the Gibbs' fundamental equations. In this paper, some syntheses of a preserving structure state feedback, which allows stabilization of the closed-loop contact system, will be analysed. For the partial stabilization of the closed-loop contact system: at equilibrium point, the analyses are based on the technical linearisation; on the invariant Legendre submanifold, the analyses are based on the center manifold theory. For the global stabilization of the closed-loop contact system, the possibility for defining an availability function as Lyapunov function will be investigated as well. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of these concepts, they are further applied to the heat exchanger as an experimental example.
