Abstract
Nearly all spinner magnetometers have hitherto been designed and manufactured for measuring the (dipole) magnetism of palaeo- and rockmagnetic samples of relatively weak magnetisation. In the present work, it will be shown that the spinner magnetometer with a Helmholtz-coil sensor in two different connections could be applied also to the complete result measurement of inhomogeneously distributed magnetisation modelled by magnetism due to an offset dipole or equivalently a dipole plus quadrupole.
